The Cube’s UI menu is a simpler version of the old Horadric Cube back in Diablo 2. There are only seven recipes for Kanai’s compared to the many for the Horadric Cube, but you still put the items required into the big center box, and once you hit transmute, the new item will appear in this same box. The Cube is used in Diablo II. The Cube's magic allows certain items to be transmuted into other items. For example, a simple recipe would be two quivers of bolts into a quiver of arrows. The Horadric Cube is found in the Halls of the Dead in Act II, guarded by a monster called Bloodwitch the Wild. The Cube can only be found in Adventure mode. There is no long quest or list of requirements to find it. Simply talk to Zoltun Kulle in Act town and then travel to the The Ruins of Sescheron in Act 3 and find the Elder Sanctum, somewhere on that map you will find the cube. Once there, talk to the spirit of Zoltun Kulle, who will point you towards the Cube’s location and provide some history behind its creation and purpose. Once you’ve obtained the Cube, you can use it by selecting it in town. Drag and drop items from your inventory into the Cube, then select the “Transmute” button to magically combine them.
